What are 3D number plates?.
3D Gel plates have raised black characters with a rounded, glossy face. Here is how they differ from printed plates and the acrylic digits used on 4D plates.
What does 3D Gel look like?
3D Gel characters have a rounded top and shoulders. Light reflects across the curved face, giving them a different appearance from flat print. The raised face is visible from the side as well as the front.
How do they compare with 4D?
Plain 4D uses a solid acrylic character with a flat face and straight sides. 3D Gel has a softer curve. 4D Gel combines the two constructions: an acrylic base with a domed gel top.
Are 3D Gel plates road legal?
Raised characters are permitted by the number plate rules. A road plate also needs the correct black characters, reflective background, spacing and markings. Carbon-pattern gel, tint and custom spacing are show-only options in our builder.
