What are 4D number plates?.

A guide to raised acrylic digits and the finishes available.

A flat face and defined edges.

4D plates use raised black acrylic characters. Their flat faces and defined edges give a different profile from the domed surface of gel.

Plain acrylic or gel-topped?

Plain acrylic keeps the flat face visible. 4D Gel adds a rounded gel top to the acrylic base. Compare both finishes before choosing.

Thickness and configuration.

Plain 4D is offered with 3mm or 5mm digits. Select the compatible plate size and details in the builder, and check the full road-use requirements.

3mm versus 5mm: what changes?

The figure describes acrylic character depth. It does not change the width and height of the plate itself. The 5mm option has a deeper raised profile than 3mm. Compare close-up photographs of the physical digits; a screen preview is a visual guide rather than a measurement.

Does thicker mean better?

Depth is a choice of appearance, not evidence of better durability or road compliance. Decide which profile you prefer, then check the plate construction, size, spacing and markings. Ask about care and warranty terms instead of assuming a thicker character has a longer guarantee.
