The difference between 3mm and 5mm
Both depths use the same character shape. A 5mm digit stands 2mm further from the plate than a 3mm digit, so the difference is most noticeable from the side. The letters do not get wider or taller.

Ordering 4D plates
What is the difference between 3D and 4D plates?
3D gel digits have a rounded, domed face. 4D digits use solid acrylic with a flat face and defined edges. 4D Gel combines an acrylic base with a gel top.
Can I order just one plate?
Yes. Choose Front, Rear or Front & Rear in the builder. The displayed total updates to match your selection.
Are raised digits allowed on the road?
Raised black characters are allowed. Road plates still need the correct lettering, spacing, reflective background and supplier and British Standard markings. Carbon Gel, tinted plates and custom spacing are for show use only.

We need proof of your name and address, plus proof that you can use the registration. A driving licence and a matching V5C are one example. A V750 or V778 can also prove entitlement. Our document guide explains the alternatives.
