LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER

It’s all in the edges.

Printed digits sit flat. Gel digits have a rounded face. 4D acrylic has a flat face and a defined edge, giving each character a sharper, more sculpted profile.

3mmA defined raised finish.
5mmExtra depth, the same flat face.

3mm or 5mm acrylic digits?

These measurements describe the depth of the acrylic characters, not the overall plate dimensions. Both choices have flat black faces and defined edges. Choose 3mm for a shallower raised profile or 5mm for greater depth. Compare the physical close-up photographs to judge the difference.

Plain 4D or 4D Gel?

Plain acrylic leaves the flat character face exposed. 4D Gel adds a domed gel top to the acrylic base, changing the face and profile of the digit. The 3mm and 5mm options describe the acrylic base; the gel top adds to the finished profile.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Your questions,
answered.

What is the difference between 3D and 4D plates?

3D gel digits have a rounded, domed face. 4D digits use solid acrylic with a flat face and defined edges. 4D Gel combines an acrylic base with a gel top.

Can I order just one plate?

Yes. Choose Front, Rear or Front & Rear in the builder. The displayed total updates to match your selection.

Are raised digits allowed on the road?

Raised characters are permitted, but the complete plate must meet the applicable rules, including character style, spacing, colours, material and markings. A raised finish alone does not make a plate road legal. Check the GOV.UK guidance linked below.
