Short plates work with registrations that leave room for the required spacing and margins. We do not make the digits smaller to fit more onto the plate. Use the short-plate checker to see the sizes available for your registration.

Will my registration fit?

Count the letters and numbers, leaving out the space. Enter the registration in our size checker to see which short formats are available. Badges and other choices can further restrict the sizes offered in the builder.

Will it cover the old fixing holes?

A short plate may leave old holes or marks visible. Measure the distance between your mounting points as well as the plate recess. Check the front and rear separately before choosing a shorter size.

Can I buy a single plate?

Yes. Choose Front, Rear or Front & Rear in the builder. The displayed total updates to match your selection.

Which options are suitable for the road?

Raised black characters are allowed. Road plates still need the correct lettering, spacing, reflective background and supplier and British Standard markings. Carbon Gel, tinted plates and custom spacing are for show use only.

What documents will I need?

We need proof of your name and address, plus proof that you can use the registration. A driving licence and a matching V5C are one example. A V750 or V778 can also prove entitlement. Our document guide explains the alternatives.
